Yahweh – The Self-Existent I AM

The sovereign Creator (Elohim) of Genesis 1 is also the covenant-making Yahweh (Lord). He created everything and formed mankind by special design. The Lord God (Yahweh Elohim) declared Himself to be the eternal, self-existent “I AM WHO I AM” (Ex. 3:14). Yahweh and Elohim are the two primary names used for God n the Old Testament, Yahweh being used almost 9000 times and Elohim occurring over 2500 times. Though the name Yahweh (the eternal I AM) is paramount, there is a special significance about the name Elohim that God does not want us to miss. Dr. Richard Bennett (Your Quest [...]

Questionable Discernment Ministries

Questionable Discernment Ministries. Regrettable and diverse are the failures of an overabundance of internet based “discernment” ministries, websites, programs and blogs. Frequently, these self-titled so-called Discernment Ministries are highly visible, easily accessible and are presented to the world as being representative of the truth. These presentations are the creations of self-appointed “watchmen” who claim divine inspiration for their discernment ability over and above that which is available to the average Christian believer. In addition, these “watchmen” defend their position, which by the very nature of their “ministries” cannot be described as biblical, with an aggressive fervour which borders on occultic [...]

Be Not Unequally Yoked

2 Corinthians 6:11-18 KJV (11) O ye Corinthians, our mouth is open unto you, our heart is enlarged. (12) Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own bowels. (13) Now for a recompence in the same, (I speak as unto my children,) be ye also enlarged. (14) Be ye not Unequally Yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? (15) And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? (16) And what agreement hath the temple of [...]

Biblical Prophecies – Good and Bad News

Biblical Prophecies – Good and Bad News on the Future, written by Prof. Johan Malan of Bible Guidance. In a rapidly changing world it becomes increasingly important to take notice of biblical prophecies on the last days before the second coming of Christ. Only informed people who have acquainted themselves with the prophetic Word will not be caught unprepared by new developments in the world. Since the restoration of Israel in the mid 20th century, many prophecies are being fulfilled in various spheres of life. In this way, clear evidence is forthcoming on an emerging new world order which is [...]

The Day of the Lord

The concept The Day of the Lord (or: that day) is often used in the Old as well as the New Testament in connection with the fulfilment of end-time prophecies. It refers to the final phase of human history on earth when the Lord will directly intervene in the destiny of mankind by revealing Himself in various capacities – as Bridegroom, Judge and King. This revelatory phase will last slightly more than a thousand years as it includes both the tribulation period of seven years and Christ’s thousand-year reign of peace (the Millennium). We are dealing here with a prophetic [...]

Full Salvation from Sin

Full Salvation from Sin. These few verses encapsulate the secret of a victorious Christian life. We should walk in the light of God’s presence. God revealed Himself to us through His Word. The psalmist says, “The entrance of your words gives light” (Ps. 119:130). Jesus Christ is the Word who became flesh and dwelt among us. “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men” (John. 1:4). We also see the Father when we see Him, because in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Col. 2:9). We can only be reconciled with the Father [...]

Spiritual or Worldly Inclinations

Spiritual or Worldly Inclinations. There is a serious obstacle in the spiritual lives of many Christians, and that is the uncrucified flesh. The flesh refers to the old, sinful nature of believers (the old man or the old self) and therefore represents worldliness emanating from a carnal mind. The flesh is only crucified in principle when one is saved, and this offers you the possibility of prevailing over it through the cross of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. The command in Gal. 5:16 is very clear: “Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lust [...]

The Bride of Christ

Many people are not very clear on the relationship between the bride of Christ and the New Jerusalem. Some of them entertain the view that the city itself is the bride, and not its inhabitants, while others state that the city will only be the abode of the glorified Israel – not of the bridal congregation of Christ. John says the following on the significance and illustrious appearance of this wonderful city: “Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. … Then one of [...]
